Brantford Rafting Trip . Mohawk Paddle

Open 7 days a week . April til November . Reservations Required

Our Mohawk Paddle is another great family trip of swimming and rafting.

This trip skirts the city of Brantford from Brant Park to Cockshutt Bridge.

It has some longer deeper pools and a wide shallow ford.

The route is about 4 hours long.

Lots of swimming... good osprey sighting area.

This is a trip of bridges... five bridges in total.

We actually paddle over the fording point of Joseph Brant and the Mohawks when they came to settle here... thus the name "Brantford."

This section has one of the best body surfing swifts of all our routes.

We also paddle by the homestead of Alexander Graham Bell... inventor of the telephone.

Learn about the attempted attack in 1814 of 700 mounted Americans led by the ruthless General McArthur.

An Overview Map of our Mohawk Paddling Route on the Grand River

The Mohawk Route is a 13 km long paddle. It takes about 4 to 5 hours. The river averages about 2 meter in depth with easy rapids. It is about 60 meters wide. The river flows through a scenic forested setting... islands... through Brantford... then back into wilderness.

There are many wild birds along the route. It is not a muddy river but has a visible stone bottom. There are no poisonous snakes and no biting insects while out on the river. There are lots of fish and wildlife... but seeing them is a challenge.

There are spots where you can stop for a picnic lunch. The river is safe to swim in but wear your shoes/sandals.

Our Customers:

The Mohawk Run was a complete surprise to me... islands, swifts and deep sections... it was like a combination of the Cayuga and Oneida Run... with the city of Brantford halfways through. Being local, I was delighted at how much I enjoyed it.
